Choose Health Delaware is our state’s free official program, created to help you better understand health insurance reform and the Health Insurance Marketplace. We are not an insurance company. However, through this website you can see what our partner health insurance companies, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware and Aetna, can offer you.
Missed the February 15 deadline?
Open enrollment for 2015 coverage is now closed but you still may be able to get health coverage:
- If you file your 2014 tax return and find out at that time that you must pay the fee for not having coverage in 2014, you may be able to enroll in 2015 coverage between March 15 and April 30 .
- Outside of enrollment periods, you can enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace if you have a qualifying life event like getting married, having a child, recently moving into Delaware and others.
- You can also apply for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) at any time during the year.
- You can enroll your business to provide coverage for your employees at any time.
Important: If you enrolled in Marketplace coverage, received an incorrect Form 1095-A, and filed your return based on that form, you do not need to file an amended tax return.
Will you pay a penalty?
If you didn’t sign up for 2015 coverage, you’ll pay a costly penalty*. Find out how much it could be:
*Some people who don’t have health insurance may be exempt from paying a penalty .
